Yuncheng

Yuncheng occupies the far southwest of Shanxi, a basin between the Yellow River and the Zhongtiao mountains at around thirty-five degrees north. Deep loess, long sun hours, a wide diurnal swing and a frost-free season long enough for late varieties.

An apple prefecture

Apple is the prefecture's defining crop, grown across its counties and backed by cold storage and concentrate processing at national scale. Five of its counties and districts are designated key counties in the national loess-plateau apple belt.

Beyond China

Yuncheng apples reach export markets across dozens of countries, supported by registered export orchards and standardised demonstration orchards.

Its other names

The prefecture holds a large family of geographical indications, among them Linyi apple, Wanrong apple, Ruicheng apple, Pinglu apple and Linyi winter jujube.
