Building Trust from Origin

IGSO Standard 01

Producer & Product Authentication

Verifying the truth of who produced the product, where it was produced, and ensuring every label originates from an authenticated source.

What Is Authentication?

Before any product can enter the IGSO Ecosystem, both the producer and the product must undergo strict authentication. This standard ensures that every IGSO-certified label comes from a legitimate producer at a verified location, printed through authorized hardware tied to that physical address.

No producer can self-declare their identity. All authentication is enforced by IGSO through hardware and system controls. This creates the foundation for all downstream standards — freshness, aging, location verification, safety testing, and data governance.

How Authentication Works

1

Producer Identity Verified

Producers submit legal company information and operating address. IGSO verifies legitimacy through document checks, field verification, or partner validation. Only authenticated producers can receive IGSO-certified printing equipment.

2

Location Bound to Hardware

Each producer location is verified by IGSO before activation. IGSO-approved printers are bound to that exact physical address. The printer cannot be activated or used at any unverified site. If a mismatch occurs, the system disables the printer automatically.

3

Controlled Label Printing

Every label is printed through a certified printer at a certified location. The label carries an embedded link to the authenticated producer, the verified origin location, and the timestamp of printing. This prevents fake labels, fake factories, or unauthorized subcontracting.

4

The Gateway to Everything

Without passing this standard, products cannot enter Versatile Trace, freshness or aging cannot begin, locations cannot certify movement, and products cannot join the IGSO Data Space. Authentication is the mandatory gateway into the entire ecosystem.

Outcomes

Ensures the true producer is authenticated
Ensures the true origin is verified
Stops counterfeit production and unauthorized relabeling
Creates a legally defensible identity framework
Establishes IGSO as a technology-enforced certification authority

In one sentence

Only authenticated producers at authenticated locations can issue authenticated labels — forming the foundation of trust for all IGSO standards.
