Linyi County
Linyi lies in the Yellow River triangle where Shaanxi, Shanxi and Henan meet, on loess terraces above the river. Light is abundant and the swing between day and night temperatures is wide.
The fruit county
Linyi is a fruit county before it is anything else. Apple covers the largest share of its orchards, with winter jujube and peach behind it, and a substantial part of the jujube crop grows under structures rather than in open orchards. Growing is organised largely through cooperatives.
In the country
Linyi is one of China's three principal winter-jujube origins by both planted area and output. In 2023 the county co-founded the China Premium Winter Jujube Origin Alliance (中国优质冬枣产地联盟) with Zhanhua District in Shandong and Dali County in Shaanxi, the other two.
Beyond China
Linyi winter jujube is exported, reaching markets including Russia, the United States, Australia, Chile and Southeast Asia.
Its other names
Linyi holds two further geographical-indication certification marks: Linyi apple (临猗苹果) and Linyi fresh peach (临猗鲜桃).
